Trying all the engine swaps, and now i'm struggling tho choose which one is the best if it can be done in real life:
A. Maserati GranTurismo S with Maserati MC12 GT1 engine.
B. Audi TT with Audi R8 LMS engine.
C. Lexus IS-F with Lexus LFA engine.
D. Mazda Miata with Mazda Eunos Cosmo engine.
E. Infiniti G35 with GT-R R45 GT1 Engine.

God whoever on EA thinks we need those swaps is badass. Plus it's only cost 10k USD to do engine swap!

If I remember right (maybe it was part of one of the DLCs) there was a Supra with an LFA V-10. Beautiful sound.

I've been playing Shift 2 a ton since Fourza broke. Once you work out the controls so there's no input delay and you get used to the weird handling, it's an awesome game. The AI and the physics are on-par with and maybe even better than Gran Turismo and Forza, Yeah, I said it.

No, it's shift 2.

I rarely play shift one anymore after i can do the swaps. And then i stopped playing it altoghether until very recently my PS3 died.

G35 with the GT-R GT1 engine (VK45DE) engine is probably the best AND most realistic, since people have swapped VK and VH blocks into G35s before:

That input delay sometimes makes me mad.

But the ai is much more fun!
Sometimes you feel they consistenly push you out and kill you. and i like it.

Have you tried adjusting the game settings? That fixed it for me.

I also like that if you make contact, it spins you out as well, like someone else hit you. That way, instead of doing in Gran-Turismo style and just pushing them out of the way, you have to pass cleanly.

I play on a controller on Xbox. Coming straight from Fourza, it feels absurd at first. Like, "How do I play this shit?" absurd as you miss every apex. But after a solid 15-20 minutes of feeling it out, it's pretty awesome.

Right when the game came out, I got it on PC for my laptop, which I strongly advise against if that's what you were planning on. While it was partially my fault for downloading a demanding game on a standard HP laptop that can barely run Battlefield 3, the game was past unplayable. Steering via keyboard was click the turn button, watch the car twitch, and frantically tap repeatedly until you overdo it and hit the inside wall. Upon trying with a wheel, it was the same way.

Overall, I would not recommend it as a sim, but would ensure you'll have a blast if you buy it. Its gorgeous, the sounds are cool, the engine swaps are so unique (as mentioned above, just with more cars) and most of all, you get the typical customization of Need for Speed rolled into a Forza-like game. All of the cars started as typical street cars, and recieved the in-game "Works" treatment (which basically just makes them into a racecar and adds even more power than they already have), and some recieved custom paint jobs while other were given one of the pre-installed liveries that come with the game:
